Three people are dead following a police pursuit in Spartanburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 2:08 a.m. Saturday on U.S. Highway 221 at the intersection of Fosters Groove road, according to a news release. One vehicle — a 2013 Ford Fusion — occupied with a driver and two passengers, was involved.
The Fusion was heading east on Fosters Groove road, evading law enforcement, before running off the right side of the road and striking a tree, the release said.

All three occupants died as a result of the crash.
The reason for the pursuit was not reported, and the deceased has not yet been identified by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
