A South Carolina man died in a Georgia hospital days after he was pulled from the Savannah River, according to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.

Justin Swearingen, a 40-year-old from Aiken, is the man who died at Augusta’s WellStar MCG Health Medical Center on Monday, Coroner Darryl Ables said in a news release.
On Aug. 15, Swearingen was swimming in the Savannah River, separating South Carolina and Georgia, when he went beneath the surface, according to the release. Swearingen was pulled to the shore by bystanders and then taken to the Augusta hospital, the coroner’s office said.

No other injuries were reported.
Swearingen’s death has been ruled accidental due to drowning, according to the release. Ables said that toxicology analysis is pending.
