Search in South Carolina for missing 12-year-old girl

A search is underway in South Carolina for a missing child.

Vanessa Marryman was publicly reported missing Saturday, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The 12-year-old girl hasn’t been seen for days, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Vanessa was last seen Friday at about 3 p.m., according to the release. She was at a home in the 1300 block of W E Jeffcoat Road in Gaston when she was last seen, the sheriff’s department said. That’s in a part of Lexington County between U.S. 178 and U.S. 321.

There was no word if Vanessa was alone when she was last seen, or if she is considered a runaway. The sheriff’s department did not say if foul play is suspected in her disappearance, or if she is considered to be in danger.

The sheriff’s department described Vanessa as a 5-foot-6, 115-pound girl who was last seen wearing a black tank top, blue jeans and brown cowboy boots.

Anyone who sees Vanessa, or knows where she’s located, is asked to immediately call 911.
