A new place for sweet treats is set to open its doors in a busy area of Lexington County.

Whit’s Frozen Custard, which has locations in a number of states, will open a new location at 1788 S. Lake Drive in Lexington’s Red Bank area at noon on Sept. 4, according to numerous social media posts from the business in recent days.

“We can’t wait to welcome Lexington to Whit’s,” the business said in a post on Facebook.

The new frozen custard shop is in a small shopping strip near a Walmart, with directly neighboring businesses including U.S. Wings & Deli and Little Caesars Pizza, among a host of others. There also is a Rush’s a short distance away.

Whit’s Frozen Custard has locations in 10 states, according to its website, including South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and elsewhere. Other locations in South Carolina include spots in Fort Mill, North Myrtle Beach and James Island, among other towns.

The menu at Whit’s includes frozen custard scoops, shakes, floats, frozen custard sandwiches and more. One offering currently, per the Whit’s website, is the Fluffer Nutter Cookie custard, which comes with vanilla frozen custard, crushed cookies, peanut butter swirls and marshmallow swirls.

The Red Bank area in south central Lexington County has accelerated with growth in recent years with new subdivisions, schools, restaurants and more. More than 28,000 cars per day travel down South Lake Drive, per SC Department of Transportation data, while more than 19,000 cars per day traverse nearby Platt Springs Road.
