A pedestrian was killed Friday night after being struck by a pickup truck in Aiken County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The collision happened around 8:50 p.m. on S.C. 421 near Church Street, according to a news release. The pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway while walking east when the person was hit by a 2025 Chevrolet pickup traveling south, Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway said.
The pedestrian died at the scene. The pickup driver was not injured, the release said.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
The collision remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol, the release said.
