The University of South Carolina has some good news to share.
For the 28th consecutive year, the university’s Darla Moore School of Business has a business program ranked as the best in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings.

“These rankings reflect the strength of a Carolina education, one that combines academic excellence with a commitment to student success,” said USC’s Provost Mary Anne Fitzpatrick in a press release.
Here’s USC’s specialty program that’s beaten every other school’s:
USC’s top-rated business program
USC’s top-rated discipline is none other than the International Business program.
“The No. 1 ranking of the undergraduate International Business program for the 28th year in a row is a testament to the talented students who are attracted to the program from across the country, as well as the excellent faculty and staff who challenge and support the students,” said Gregory Niehaus, interim dean of the Darla Moore School of Business, in the same press release.
Additionally, several other programs at the Darla School of Business were among the top 25 in this year’s ranking. USC’s insurance program ranks No. 10 nationally; its supply chain management program ranks No. 20 and its undergraduate business program ranks No. 50 nationally, placing it among the top 25 public institutions in the nation.
U.S. News & World Report ranks undergraduate programs by using peer assessment surveys of deans and senior faculty from accredited U.S. institutions.
Earlier this year, deans and senior faculty rated the academic quality of peer programs they were familiar with on a 5-point scale: outstanding (5), strong (4), good (3), adequate (2) or marginal (1).

For select disciplines, such as international business, survey respondents were asked to nominate up to 15 of the best programs across specific disciplines. To be ranked, a program must have received at least seven nominations.
Business isn’t the only thing USC is known for. The university was named a top school for first-year experience.
USC named best public university for first-year experience
USC is ranked No. 3 in the country for first-year experience, falling behind two private schools. USC is the best public university in the country for this category.
“Our No. 1 ranking among public institutions for first-year experience reflects the strong foundation we provide from the moment students arrive, while our nationally ranked academic programs give students access to exceptional expertise and opportunities,” said Fitzpatrick. “These accomplishments showcase the work done every day to make the Carolina experience exceptional.”
Schools were ranked based on their first-year experiences, co-ops/internships, learning communities, senior capstone, service learning, study abroad, undergraduate research/creative projects, and writing in the disciplines.
