A well-known chicken sandwich chain is set to open the doors on a new location in a busy area of northeast Columbia.

Chick-fil-A, which has locations across the U.S. and in the Midlands, will open a new location at 101 Lemonade Lane, just off the 4600 block of Hard Scrabble Road, on Sept. 17, according to a recorded message on the restaurant’s phone number. A Google listing for the restaurant also notes a Sept. 17 opening date.

“We look forward to serving you when we open on Sept. 17, 2026,” the restaurant’s phone message said on Tuesday afternoon. “Our hours are 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m, with breakfast served until 10:30 a.m.”

The message also noted the restaurant has a play area.

The new Chick-fil-A is across the street from a busy Hard Scrabble Road shopping center that’s anchored by a Publix grocery store, and just a short distance down the road from a Guthrie’s restaurant that opened last December. Rice Creek Elementary School and Ridge View High School are nearby, to the north of where the restaurant is located.

It’s a high-traffic area, with state Department of Transportation statistics noting nearly 23,000 cars per day travel down that stretch of Hard Scrabble Road.

There are more than 3,400 Chick-fil-A restaurants in the United States, per data website ScrapeHero. The company has continued to grow and make moves in the Midlands in recent years, opening new units and renovating existing locations.

For instance, the Lexington location at Saluda Pointe reopened in 2025 after being closed while it expanded its drive-thru capacity. The company’s location inside the Columbiana Centre mall also was extensively remodeled in 2025. A new Chick-fil-A opened in August 2025 at the Gateway 737 development on Gadsden Street next to the Colonial Life Arena. The company opened a new store at 425 Bush River Road in 2025, replacing an older unit that was just down the road, and it is currently planning a restaurant on Spears Creek Church Road in the Elgin area.

Also, the Chick-fil-A on Harden Street in Columbia’s famed Five Points recently made $1 million in renovations.
