A Barnwell County man was charged with murder by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division more than one month after another man was killed in a shooting.

Antonio Montavius Battle, 22, was charged with murder and possession of a weapon by SLED on Wednesday.
The charge is connected to a shooting in Barnwell County where another man, David Hammond Jr., was killed, according to arrest warrants.
The slaying of Hammond occurred in Blackville on Aug. 8 between 10:30 and 10:45 p.m., according to arrest warrants.

The Blackville Police Department aided SLED in investigations, according to a news release.
Battle was booked at the Barnwell County Detention Center and will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
