One person died Sunday in a four-vehicle crash in Lexington County, authorities say.

Stacey Brooks, a 50-year-old from Columbia, is the woman who was killed in what Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher called an accident.
South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Hannah Davidson said in a news release that the wreck happened at 11:34 a.m. Sept. 20 on U.S. 378 near Tom Draft Circle. That’s near Lake Murray in the Gilbert area of Lexington County.
According to the Highway Patrol, a 2010 Ford Fusion was traveling east on U.S. 378 when it crossed the center line and struck three other vehicles: A 2019 Nissan Kicks, a 2016 Toyota Corolla and a 2014 Ford Expedition.
Brooks was a passenger in the 2010 Ford Fusion, the Highway Patrol said. The drivers of the vehicles were injured and taken to area hospitals, according to Fisher. Further information on their conditions was not available.

Brooks also was taken to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Fisher said.
There was no word if anyone involved in the wreck was wearing a seatbelt.
Both the Highway Patrol and coroner’s office are continuing to investigate the crash.
Through Sunday, 634 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.
At least 23 people have died in Lexington County crashes this year, and 40 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
