The rally will be held in Wichita on Monday, according to an online RSVP page. The location has not yet been announced.

The event is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Trump is expected to give remarks at 6 p.m.

Revelations about the visit come a day after Trump hinted at an upcoming “Kansas Style” rally in a lengthy social media post on Monday. The Republican president said the rally would be in support of Marshall, a Republican embroiled in a tight race ahead of the Nov. 3 election.

“I will be having a Kansas Style Rally, in Roger’s Honor, very soon. See you there!” Trump wrote in the post, praising Marshall.

Marshall’s campaign has faced headwinds in recent weeks as he tries to withstand a challenge from the Rev. Adam Hamilton. The race has generated national attention and Hamilton is seeking to become the first Democratic senator elected in Kansas since the 1930s.

The rally would mark Trump’s first visit to Kansas this cycle as he attempts to mobilize Republican voters in tight races across the country. Republicans nationwide are gearing up for a potentially tortuous midterm election amid the ongoing war with Iran, concerns over the economy and Trump’s own polling numbers.

National Republicans have long signaled a possible trip to Kansas, a state Trump won with 57% of the vote in 2024. A top fundraising arm for Trump and the RNC recently listed Kansas as a potential stop alongside other battleground states such as North Carolina and Texas.

But it remains unclear whether support from Trump will be helpful for Marshall and other Republicans in tight races this year. Some national Republicans have attempted to distance themselves from the president ahead of the election.

Sen. Mike Thompson, a Shawnee Republican, acknowledged earlier on Tuesday that a visit from Trump would be a “mixed bag” for some voters.

“It’s really hard to tell, because there’s a lot of people who love Trump,” he said. “There’s some people who are not sure about some of the policies he’s had.”

Still, Thompson said that a Trump rally would be a positive for Marshall, particularly in Wichita and western parts of the state.

Monday’s event suggested that national Republicans will attempt to rally Republican voters to turn out for the Nov. 3 election, a strategy often called base mobilization. That strategy could work in a state with a Republican advantage, said Bob Beatty, a political science professor at Washburn University who closely tracks Kansas political campaigns.

“The numbers are there,” said Beatty. “If the Republicans in Kansas can get out their core voters, they can win.”

But there’s also a downside to that strategy. A Trump visit will also invigorate Democratic, independent and moderate Republican voters, Beatty said.

“This is something the Hamilton campaign, if they do it right, can turn to their advantage,” he said.
