Two men were arrested Thursday during a protest near the American Airlines Center, where the GOP is holding its midterm convention, Dallas police said.

The men, identified Friday as 23-year-old Hunter Holmes and 19-year-old Adrian Garcia, are accused of assaulting a counter-protester and blocking the road near McKinney and Payne streets, according to Star-Telegram media partner WFAA-TV.
Holmes is charged with obstructing a highway and two counts of assault with bodily injury, WFAA reported. Garcia is charged with obstructing a highway, assault with bodily injury and interference with public duties.

Police officers saw Holmes shove the counter-protester in the chest with both hands, according to an affidavit obtained by WFAA. Shortly thereafter, Holmes pushed another counter-protester to the ground and did not obey police commands to get out of the roadway, officials said.
Garcia, who was also ordered out of the street, began to poke and hit officers with the “blunt end of a flagpole,” according to his affidavit.

The people pushed to the ground did not require medical attention, police said.
