Slava Pak, 32, of Waxhaw, is suspected in both shootings, and the victim who died is his mother, the Union County Sheriff’s Office says.

Her body was discovered around 5 p.m. Sunday, after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police requested a welfare check at a home on Mini Ranch Road in Waxhaw, officials said.

“Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department advised deputies that a male identified as Slava Pak had walked into one of their facilities and stated that he had committed a crime and wanted to turn himself in,” the Union County Sheriff’s Office reported in a June 29 news release.

“Upon arriving at the residence, deputies … located an adult female, later identified as Larisa Pak, deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.”

Deputies were still processing the crime scene when they learned Slava Pak was also the suspect in shooting that occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, near the Great Falls Rail Trail Access in Chester County, S.C., officials said.

One person was shot and taken to a hospital, Chester County officials said. The identity of the person has not been released.

Slava Pak has been charged with murder in his mother’s death, and attempted murder in connection with the shooting in Great Falls, officials said. He faces an additional charge in South Carolina of possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime, officials said.

Court records indicate the suspect lives at the Waxhaw address where his mother’s body was found.
