A now-former convenience store worker was arrested for lottery fraud, joining a list of three others charged less than two weeks ago, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Aanyree Nicqweisha Khyasia Sapp, 20, was charged Thursday with intent to defraud by counterfeit game tickets following an incident where she received cash in exchange for stolen lottery ticket she’d stolen, according to a SLED affidavit.
Three other former store clerks, including Eric Thomas Brown Jr., 25, Jessica Crum, 38, and Kayla Marie Madden, 37, like Sapp, are all accused of leveraging their positions as store clerks to either steal lottery tickets they were entrusted with selling and/or cashing stolen tickets in.

Sapp’s approach to stealing, however, was different from the others who were caught. The 20-year-old stole the ticket from a social media post where the victim posted a photo of the ticket before cashing in. Before the victim could make it to the store, Sapp took a photo of the ticket and scanned it at a lottery terminal at former place of employment — Nouria, located at 2118 Main Highway in Bamberg, according to the affidavit.
Sapp walked away with a payout. The amount was not reported.
The victim later attempted to redeem the ticket, but was told that it had already been paid out, the affidavit said.

Sapp was booked into the Bamburg County Detention Center.
