One person killed in crash that left two others hospitalized, SC cops say

One person was killed over the weekend in a crash that left two others hospitalized, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The single-vehicle collision happened at about 9:40 p.m. Saturday in Anderson County, said Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway.

A 2010 Audi sedan was driving north on New Hope Road in Anderson, according to Ridgeway. The car ran across Whitehall Road, then ran off the right side of the road where it crashed into a tree, power box and a home off Sugar Creek Lane, Ridgeway said.

A passenger in the car died at the scene, according to Ridgeway.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified 22-year-old Daniel Dmitriy Krauze as the victim who died, WYFF reported.

Both the driver and another passenger in the Audi were hurt and taken to a Greenville hospital, Ridgeway said. Further information on the surviving victims’ conditions was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

The coroner’s office said that Krauze was not wearing a seatbelt, WSPA reported. There was no word if the surviving victims were wearing seatbelts.

Information about what caused the car to veer off the road was not available, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol.

Through Aug. 2, at least 497 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.

At least 23 people have died in Anderson County crashes this year, and 37 people died in wrecks there in 2025, according to DPS data.
