An international fiber and cable company is expanding in the South Carolina Midlands, a move that is expected create more than 130 jobs.

Prysmian North America, announced an $80 million investment to expand its Lexington County operations, according to a Wednesday news release. It will create approximately 135 new jobs. The company already operates a facility at 700 Industrial Drive in Lexington.
“Prysmian has been a valued part of South Carolina’s manufacturing industry, and we are pleased to see the company continue to invest in our state,” Gov. Henry McMaster said in a news release. “This expansion will bring approximately 135 new jobs to Lexington County and create new opportunities for South Carolinians.”

The expansion is expected to be completed in May 2028.
“Existing industries are the backbone of our local economy, and there is no greater testament to Lexington County’s success than when companies that have called our community home for generations continue to grow and reinvest,” Lexington County Council Chairman Darrell Hudson said in a news release. “We are proud to celebrate this milestone and look forward to supporting Prysmian’s continued success for many years to come.”
Prysmian, which has its North American headquarters in Kentucky, produces optical fibers, optical and copper cables and connectivity systems. It has 50 locations in North America, including a manufacturing plant in Abbeville County.
