The longtime senator served more than 20 years in the U.S. Senate and won his June primary election before his death last month. Sen. Darline Graham is completing her brother’s term and competing for the Republican nomination for a full term.

No candidate garnered more than 50% of the vote in the crowded Aug. 11 special Republican primary, so U.S. Sen. Darline Graham and U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman will face off in a Republican primary runoff election on Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Graham, who scored roughly 33% of the vote, and Norman, who received roughly 25% of votes, are vying to run against Democratic nominee Dr. Annie Andrews in November.

Who can vote in the primary runoff?

Registered South Carolina voters who cast ballots in the Republican primary or who did not vote in a June primary can participate in the Republican Senate primary runoff. However, those who voted in the June Democratic primary are ineligible.
