A new convenience store is debuting in the Midlands, and customers will find a likely welcome discount at the gas pump during its grand opening celebration.

Corner Pantry, which has stores across South Carolina, will have a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at its new location at 51 E. Dekalb St. in Camden. The store, which the company touted as “state of the art” in a news release, is just east of downtown Camden, across the road from a Piggly Wiggly supermarket.
There will be a number of celebratory happenings during 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday opening event, per the release, including free pizza and hot dogs, giveaways and trivia with prizes such as TVs and gift cards, a live DJ, racing simulators, an appearance of a Budweiser dune buggy, ball pits for kids, and specials and discounts in the store.
And the grand opening will feature $2.50 per gallon regular unleaded gasoline, likely a welcome deal during a time when the average cost of a gallon in South Carolina, per AAA, is $4.04. Customers are encouraged to download the Corner Pantry app before attending the Wednesday grand opening.

Corner Pantry also is set to make a collective $20,000 in donations to local entities on Wednesday, including area schools and emergency services, the release noted.
The new Corner Pantry is debuting along a busy stretch in growing Camden. About 20,600 cars per day travel down that stretch of Dekalb Street, per state Department of Transportation data.
