Six hand soaps possibly contaminated with bacteria and distributed in South Carolina and 14 other states have been recalled by the manufacturer, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reported.

Intercon Chemical Co. sent the soaps to 19 wholesale companies and Ingles.
Four may be contaminated with a type of bacteria and were intended for use in commercial or institutional settings such as hospitals or workplaces.
Two others are sold under the Laura Lynn brand at Ingles grocery stores.
Those include Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap and Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap in 8- and 7.5-ounce bottles, respectively.
The FDA labeled the recall a Class II risk, defined as “use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
Two of the products may be contaminated with several species of Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria, including P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens, the FDA said.
P. aeruginosa and S. marcescens are commonly found in the environment and can cause infections, especially in hospitals, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria are resistant to antibiotics and can cause blood infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, eye infections, brain infections, bone infections and heart infections, the CDC said.

Other products recalled in South Carolina this year include frozen berries, chocolate milk, tofu, pasta salad, soup and bread dough.
Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. recalled blueberries in July and expanded the recall to include Great Value-brand Organic Triple Berry Blend because the product could contain E.coli, the Food and Drug Administration said.
Horizon Organic recalled 50,000 cases of chocolate milk because the cartons could cause the milk to spoil before they are opened.
Hodo recalled more than 10,000 cases of tofu because the product may contain ink, the Food and Drug Administration said.
Reser’s Fine Foods of Halifax, North Carolina, recalled pasta salad because the containers could contain chicken salad instead. Chicken salad should be marked for egg and milk allergens.
Amy’s Kitchen recalled organic lentil light soup because of a defect in the cans.
Pillsbury recalled two varieties of bread rolls sold to Walmart bakeries due to possible foreign material contamination, specifically glass.
