Other people’s money was spent by wanted man, SC sheriff says. Here’s how much

A man is wanted for “spending other people’s money,” the Richland County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

There’s a search for 57-year-old McKiver Wider, who’s accused of committing financial crimes, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Wider’s wanted in relation to a larceny by misusing a company gas card, according to the release.

In a year’s time, Wider made more than $65,000 in charges on the company card, the sheriff’s department said. Information about the company that issued the card, and how Wider came in possession of it, was not available.

Wider is facing breach of trust with fraudulent intent (value more than $10,000) and financial transaction card fraud charges, according to the release.

If convicted on the felony breach of trust charge, Wider faces a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, according to South Carolina law. A conviction on the felony financial transaction card fraud charge could result in a penalty of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine, the law says.
