The release of the autopsy results came shortly after the release of the Jackson County grand jury’s investigation into Wells’ death.
The Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Wells’ cause and manner of death undetermined and inconclusive — the same finding reached by the independent pathologist who performed an autopsy on Wells on behalf of his parents, Elmore and Christine Wonsley.

“We are releasing the final independent autopsy report in its entirety, so everyone can read it for themselves. This grand jury result leaves us with more questions than answers. Nolan’s family will not rest until we know what happened to him, and neither will we,” said Crump.
