When it comes to local restaurants, we’ve all got a “short list.”
That’s the small group of favorites that gets mentioned when someone in your family or friend group inevitably asks, “Where should we go to eat?” (A loaded question in any family discussion, I know.) While I make it a habit to consistently visit lots of different restaurants across the Midlands, there’s no doubt that Duke’s Pad Thai, at 904 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce, is on my short list of go-to spots.

The Duke’s menu is loaded with Asian street food staples, a noodle bar, tacos, fried rice offerings and more. But my preferred dish — and one of my favorite dishes in the Columbia area — is the classic pad Thai.
That typically comes with thin rice noodles, eggs, bean sprouts (I usually leave those out, in full disclosure), lemon and cilantro in pad Thai sauce, with your choice of meat. (I typically go with the chicken.) Whether during your lunch break or at dinner with the family, you simply can’t go wrong with Duke’s.
