Regal movie theaters in South Carolina along with hundreds of others across the country will show two Dolly Parton movies to raise money for her Dollywood Foundation.

“Steel Magnolias” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” will be shown in Regal theaters in 35 states and Washington, D.C., from Sept. 4-9.
Regal said in a news release 100% of the proceeds will go to the Dollywood Foundation.
The foundation’s flagship enterprise is the Imagination Library, which was founded by Parton in 1995 in Sevier County, Tennessee, where she was born. It sends 3 million books each month to children from birth to 5.
The foundation also funds annual scholarships for high school seniors and disaster relief caused by wildfires and flooding.
Regal, which is based in East Tennessee, showed the two Parton films in their 12 Tennessee theaters. The funds raised will support approximately 1,290 Tennessee children for a full year, providing more than 15,000 books, Emma Messer, Regal’s philanthropy and communications manager said.
“Regal has hosted charitable screenings and programs in the past, but this is the first time we’ve done an initiative on this scale, with more than 200 theaters nationwide participating and 100% of proceeds benefiting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library,” she said.
“It was incredible to watch our Tennessee community show up in such a big way to celebrate Dolly Parton and support a cause so close to her heart,” said Vikki Neil, Regal senior vice president of marketing.
She said Regal has always felt Parton’s impact.
“We’re excited to give audiences across the country a way to celebrate her legacy while supporting the Imagination Library,” she said.

Regal has long been a supporter of the Imagination Library, the news release said.
“Dolly’s legacy was never meant to be something we simply preserve or look back upon,” said Jeff Conyers, president of The Dollywood Foundation. “She built things that could keep doing good in the world.”
Conyers said the foundation now must care for what she “entrusted to us, help it grow thoughtfully, and make certain the love at the heart of her work continues reaching children, families, and communities long into the future.”
“Steel Magnolias” will screen Sept. 4, 6, and 8, while “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” will screen Sept. 5, 7, and 9.
Tickets are $9.25, in remembrance of the movie “9 to 5.”
Advance tickets are available at theater box offices/kiosks, on the Regal mobile app, and through REGmovies.com.
The nationwide screenings will take place in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C.
Regal Global Entertainment operates the second-largest theatrical exhibition business in the world with 7,648 screens in 629 locations, the news release said.
