Fettuccine sold in SC Walmart stores recalled for possible bacteria. See if you bought any

A brand of fettuccine sold nationwide, including South Carolina, at Walmart has been recalled due to a possible contamination of Listeria.

Gia’s Foods has recalled two lots of Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said in an alert.

The New York based company recalled the product after routine sampling by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services found the bacteria in the product, the FDA said.

“The company has ceased the distribution of the product as FDA and the company continue their investigation as to what caused the problem,” the alert said.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths.

Healthy individuals may experience short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

No illnesses had been reported.

The recalled bettergoods brand Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine is frozen and packaged in a 22 oz, yellow plastic, with UPC# 194346442706, marked with lot # L6079C or # L6080C with an expiration date of 09/19/2027 or 09/20/2027 both stamped on the back of packaging.

Consumers are urged to return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, the FDA said.
