October is a busy month for festivals in South Carolina with more than 100 events listed on sciways.net — about 40 in the first weekend.

They include such staples as Fall for Greenville, continuation of Myrtle Beach Bike Week and the South Carolina State Fair.
Here are some of the events planned.
Oct. 1-17 — Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art
Three weeks of events from Thursday-Saturday including food and wine gala, concerts, performances and art.
Oct. 1-4 — Myrtle Beach Bike Week Fall Rally
The last weekend of the 10-day motorcycle rally along the Grand Strand with rides, events, vendors and entertainment.
Oct. 2-3 — Beaufort Shrimp Festival
32nd year of fresh caught shrimp, live entertainment, contests, food, children’s area and a 5K run/walk at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort.
Oct.2-3 — Newberry Oktoberfest
German brews and bites, vendors, live music, kids’ activities and a best traditional German dress contest.
Oct. 3 — Spartanburg International Festival
World cultures shown along the Avenue of Nations in food, music, dance, folk art, kids’ activities.
Oct. 3 — Cayce Fall Fest
Family-friendly event with live music, kid’s area, food and drinks, including beer and wine, vendors hosted by the City of Cayce.
Oct.6-11 — Orangeburg County Fair
Carnival rides, midway with games and food, crafts, livestock competitions and shows, live music

Oct. 9-11 — Oktoberfest Columbia
Biergarten with German beer, homemade German food and treats, kinderzone, entertainment for all ages hosted by Incarnation Lutheran Church.
Oct. 9-11 — Fall For Greenville
Cuisine from 60 restaurants, seven music stages, 50+ beer taps and wine vendors, kids’ area, contests
Oct. 10 — Italian Festival
Italian culture and heritage with family-friendly activities at Finlay Park in Columbia.
Oct. 10 — SC Sweet Potato Festival
Car show, food and craft vendors, live entertainment at the Downtown Darlington Public Square hosted by the Pilot Club of Darlington.
Oct. 15-25 — South Carolina State Fair
Midway rides and games, exhibits, live entertainment, food, livestock, exhibits
Oct. 16-17 — Famously Hot SC Pride Festival
Friday night parade and street party in Columbia with festival on Saturday supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.
Oct. 18 — Woofstock
Live music, vendors, food trucks, beer, treats for the pups, silent auction to benefit the Humane Society of SC, Lexington Icehouse Amphitheater
Oct. 29 — Halloween Carnival
Photo booth, pizza, trick-or-treating, games – adults and kids are encouraged to wear costumes at the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law in Columbia. There will be a free costume shop for children without a costume. Hosted by USC School of Law Women in Law
