The annual report lists children’s hospitals that demonstrate the utmost professionalism and provide the best care to patients and parents alike. These hospitals understand that there are many considerations when it comes to seeking care for a child, and they do their best to put parents’ worries at ease.

SC’s best children’s hospital
The Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital was the top choice for SC and the 5th best in the Southeast.
Located in Charleston, they are nationally ranked in eight different pediatric specialties, including behavioral health, cancer, cardiology & heart surgery, gastroenterology & GI surgery, nephrology, orthopedics, pulmonology & lung surgery and urology.
The hospital’s patient satisfaction rate is 88%, meaning that percentage of patients were willing to recommend the hospital to others.

Methodology
U.S. News Best Hospitals are divided into two types of evaluations: 14 specialty rankings (11 for Children’s Hospitals) and 24 procedures and conditions.
Rankings in 11 of the specialties rely largely on objective, publicly available data, such as Medicare and Medicare Advantage claims, and focus on patient outcomes, such as survival rates, readmission rates, and whether patients were able to return home rather than needing additional care, according to the group’s website.
Data from Prisma Health Richland Hospital, McLeod Regional Medical Center, and Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital were used to evaluate this hospital in pediatric cardiology and heart surgery.
